Indian luxury market is evolving very fast. Audi India was leading in Indian luxury market couple of years ago. But the company is on a steep decline in recent times. The sales of Audi India came down by 30% in 2016 and as a result lost the second spot in luxury market to BMW. Even though official numbers are not out yet but TOI reports that Audi India sold 7742 units last year while BMW sold 7861 units. Mercedes Benz is leaving others behind as the company sold 13,231 units last year. In the first quarter of 2017 (Jan-March), Audi India sales again slipped by 22% and sold only 2131 units compared to 2738 units last year. The next quarter looks promising for Audi as the company is planning to launch A5 family, Q2 and Q5 in India. BMW is all set to launch new generation 5 series in India which will significantly boost sales for the company.
