McLaren 570S GT4 takes GT4 Scandinavia title.

  • Double-points finish on home soil secures the GT4 Scandinavia championship for ALFAB Racing.
  • Team takes their seventh podium finish of the season at dramatic season final.
  • First championship title of the 2019 season for the McLaren 570S GT4.

The McLaren 570S GT4 secured the 2019 GT4 Scandinavia title at the weekend with a double-points finish for Customer Racing team ALFAB Racing at Mantorp Park in Sweden. The result is the first championship win for the 570S GT4 this season, adding to the impressive statistics for the track-only Sports Series model, now in its third full season of competitive customer racing.

ALFAB Racing, and driver pairing of Erik Behrens and Daniel Roos, went in to the double-header season-finale with a narrow lead in the Pro-Am championship, looking to continue their recent run of form. With second place in race one, their seventh podium finish of the season, the team extended its lead at the top of the standings with just one race remaining.

The final round turned out to be the most dramatic of the season, after contact in the early stages with the main championship rivals forced the #88 570S GT4 to pit. With the championship hanging in in the balance, quick work by the ALFAB Racing pitcrew ensured that the car was back out on track to score a vital sixth place, securing the GT4 Scandinavia title by 13 points.

The title is the first for the 570S GT4 this season, which has taken a podium finish in each of the championships it has contested during 2019.  As the season approaches an end, Customer Racing teams remain in contention for the Michelin PILOT Challenge and GT4 America championships.
