2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift Launched: More Safety, New Engine, Familiar Formula

Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2026 Baleno facelift at a starting price of ₹6.10 lakh (ex-showroom). The update brings a refreshed front-end, new features and, most importantly, a new engine. But the biggest talking point is the addition of Level 2 ADAS, a major move for a premium hatchback.

A New Engine Under the Hood

The outgoing 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine has been replaced by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine.

  • Produces 82 hp
  • Available with manual and AMT transmissions
  • The previous engine produced 90 hp

This means the new Baleno has less power on paper, but Maruti appears to be focusing on efficiency and its familiar lightweight, easy-to-drive character.

What’s New?

Most of the design changes are concentrated at the front.

  • Larger grille with an integrated ADAS radar
  • Redesigned front bumper and LED fog lamps
  • New chrome detailing and shark-fin antenna
  • Ventilated front seats, a segment-first
  • Wireless phone charger with cooling
  • Clarion sound system

The cabin otherwise remains largely unchanged, retaining analogue dials, physical climate controls and the HUD.

Safety Takes Centre Stage

The biggest upgrade is undoubtedly the Level 2 ADAS suite.

It includes features such as:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keep assist
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • High-beam assist

The Baleno also gets six airbags across variants, TPMS and a 360-degree camera.

The Final Take

With Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats and a refreshed feature list, the 2026 Baleno is pushing the premium hatchback formula further. But with a less powerful three-cylinder engine replacing the older four-cylinder unit, will buyers see the new technology as a fair trade-off?

Would you choose the new Baleno?
