Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the most extensive update in the history of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. While officially a facelift, the 2026 model introduces a complete technological overhaul with the debut of the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and re-engineered electrified powertrains.

The new S-Class opens for orders in Europe and China first, marking 140 years since the invention of the automobile and 105 years of the Maybach brand.
Exterior: Sculptural Authority
The 2026 facelift introduces a more commanding aesthetic focused on “quiet authority” rather than ostentation.

- Enlarged Grille: The signature Maybach radiator grille is now 20% larger and features a luminous surround. The “Maybach” wordmark is subtly illuminated within the grille frame for the first time,
- Floating Star Forged Wheels: New 20-inch and 21-inch forged wheels feature a center-mounted Mercedes-Benz star on a ball-bearing mechanism. This allows the star to remain perfectly upright even while the vehicle is in motion.
- Illumination Suite: In selected markets, the Maybach emblem on the C-pillar and the upright three-pointed star on the hood are now illuminated. Rose-gold accents have been integrated into the “double-star” headlamp design.
Interior: The “Cocooning” Lounge
The interior has been redesigned to merge high-level craftsmanship with a “fighter-jet” inspired digital cockpit.

- MBUX Superscreen: The dashboard is dominated by the fourth-generation MBUX Superscreen, which unites a 36.6-cm central display and a 31.2-cm passenger display under a single glass sheet. The graphics are Maybach-specific, featuring rose-gold dials and a textured gold backdrop.
- Leather-Free Luxury: For the first time, a leather-free interior is available. It utilizes “Mirville” mélange textile (a linen and recycled polyester blend) paired with ARTICO man-made leather and open-quilted diamond stitching.
- Rear Suite Indulgence: The rear remains an “oasis of tranquility” with automatic comfort doors, Executive seats, a 10-liter refrigerated compartment, and silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes.
Powertrain and Engineering
The combustion engine lineup has been re-engineered for future emissions standards and features ISG 2.0 (Integrated Starter Generator) mild-hybrid technology.

| Model | Engine | Output | Torque |
| S 580 | V8 Biturbo | 530 hp + 23 hp | 750 Nm + 205 Nm |
| S 680 | V8 (M 177 Evo) | 603 hp + 23 hp | 850 Nm + 205 Nm |
| S 580 e | I6 Plug-in Hybrid | 449 hp + 163 hp | 560 Nm +480 Nm |
| S 680 (Select Markets) | V12 (M 279) | 603 hp | 900 Nm |
The S 680’s new V8 engine now matches the power output of the traditional V12 while offering sharper response due to the electrification. A dedicated MAYBACH mode within DYNAMIC SELECT has been engineered specifically for maximum rear-seat ride comfort.
Intelligence: MB.OS and AI Integration
The 2026 model is the first Maybach to integrate MB.OS, a proprietary architecture that enables high-speed data processing and continuous evolution via over-the-air (OTA) updates.

- Generative AI: The MBUX Virtual Assistant is powered by generative AI (including ChatGPT 4o and Google Gemini). This allows for complex, natural dialogues.
- Predictive Suspension: The AIRMATIC air suspension now uses Car-to-X information to anticipate road imperfections using data from vehicles ahead in the cloud and this helps to adjust damping before the car reaches the bump.
- Automated Driving: The MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO system is designed for point-to-point travel in dense urban environments, launching first in China and the USA.
