Renault India has officially begun exports of the all-new Duster, with the first batch of 750 vehicles leaving Chennai for South Africa.

The shipment marks the start of Renault’s global export programme for the new-generation SUV, with more international markets expected to follow in the coming months.

The move also highlights India’s growing importance within Renault’s global manufacturing and export strategy.

Indian Roots

The new Duster will be manufactured at Renault’s Chennai facility, which continues to play a bigger role in the brand’s international operations.

Renault says the export programme reflects the strength of its manufacturing, engineering and supply chain capabilities in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Renault Group India CEO Stephane Deblaise said the start of exports validates the competitiveness and quality standards achieved by the company’s Chennai operations.

He also mentioned Renault’s ambition of generating €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030.

New Duster Goes Global

The latest-generation Duster is a significant model for Renault.

It becomes the first Renault vehicle in India to be based on the Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP), a flexible architecture capable of supporting multiple powertrain options.

Key highlights of the new Duster:

  • Built on Renault Group Modular Platform (RGMP)
  • Supports multiple powertrain technologies
  • Manufactured in Chennai
  • The export programme begins with South Africa
  • More global markets to follow

The platform is expected to support Renault’s future product strategy in India and export markets alike.

Safety A Major Selling Point

The new Duster has already secured a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating across all variants and powertrain options.

This makes it one of the safest SUVs in its segment and strengthens its appeal in both domestic and international markets.

The strong safety credentials are expected to play a key role as Renault expands exports to additional countries.

Renault’s Bigger Export Ambitions

India has become an increasingly important manufacturing hub for global automakers, and Renault is looking to capitalize on that momentum.

The company believes India’s manufacturing scale, engineering talent and improving logistics network position it as a major export base for future growth.

It signals Renault’s confidence in India as a global manufacturing hub and underlines the importance of the new Duster in the brand’s plans. With strong safety credentials, a modern platform and growing international demand, the Duster is set to become one of Renault India’s most important export products in the years ahead.
