McLaren has revealed the new 788HS, the most hardcore version yet of its Super Series lineage. Limited to just 200 examples globally, the new model serves as the final chapter of the platform that began with the 720S, evolved into the 750S and 765LT, and now reaches its peak with the 788HS.
Limited to 200 units worldwide
The ‘HS’ (High Sport) badge returns for only the third time in McLaren’s history and will be reserved for just:
- 100 McLaren 788HS Coupes
- 100 McLaren 788HS Spiders
Each car will be individually commissioned through McLaren Special Operations (MSO).
More power than any Super Series McLaren
Power comes from McLaren’s familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, now tuned to produce:
- 777 hp
- 800Nm
- 7-speed Seamless Shift gearbox
- Dry weight of just 1,265kg
- Power-to-weight ratio of 614 hp per tonne
McLaren says the engine gets lightweight forged pistons, low-inertia twin-scroll turbochargers, and twin fuel pumps for sharper performance.
Aerodynamics inspired by Formula 1
The 788HS receives a completely new aero package that generates 10 percent more downforce than the 765LT.
Key aerodynamic upgrades include:
- Carbon-fibre multi-piece front splitter
- S-Duct bonnet
- Raised active rear wing
- Louvred rear under-wing panel
- Formula 1-inspired rear diffuser
- Forged centre-lock wheels
- Carbon Monocage III chassis
Chassis focused on driver engagement
McLaren has also revised the suspension and braking package.
Highlights include:
- Proactive Chassis Control III with bespoke HS tuning
- Front ride height lowered by 5mm
- Senna-derived carbon-ceramic brakes
- Six-piston forged monobloc calipers
- Integrated brake cooling ducts
The British marque says these changes make the 788HS the most engaging and connected car in the Super Series family.
