The Range Rover Sport Electric brings the brand’s electric powertrain technology to a more performance-focused SUV. While it shares its battery and motor setup with the Range Rover Electric, its suspension, steering and chassis tuning give it a distinct character.

Familiar Design, New Technology
Range Rover has kept the design largely unchanged, with a revised grille for aerodynamics and new wheel designs with EV branding. Underneath, the SUV gets a118.5 kWh battery and dual electric motors, driving all four wheels.
Other key changes include revised suspension and brakes, along with a feature called Chauffeur Braking that makes the final stage of one-pedal braking smoother.
Built for Performance
Unlike the larger Range Rover, which prioritises comfort, the Sport is tuned for sharper handling and more engaging driving dynamics.
- Battery: 118.5 kWh
- Power: 550hp
- Powertrain: Dual electric motors with all-wheel drive
- Suspension: Performance-focused tuning
- Chassis: Additional 48V roll-control system
On Scotland’s narrow, winding roads, the Sport felt composed and confident. Its suspension and chassis management helped control body roll, allowing the SUV to handle corners with greater confidence while retaining the refinement expected of a Range Rover.
Off-Road Capability Intact
The Sport Electric also retains the brand’s off-road focus. During the drive, it tackled steep climbs, muddy descents and slippery terrain with little drama.
Terrain modes and hill descent control help manage difficult sections, while electronic traction management directs power to wheels with grip. The SUV does not use conventional differential locks or a low-range gearbox, relying instead on its motors, braking system and electronic controls to maintain traction.
The instant torque delivery also makes climbing and navigating obstacles feel effortless.

Verdict
The Range Rover Sport Electric stays true to its name, prioritising driving dynamics without sacrificing comfort or off-road capability. Its sharper chassis setup gives it a different character from the larger Range Rover Electric, making it the more engaging option for drivers who want luxury with a sportier edge. The key question for buyers will be whether that experience makes the switch to electric power worthwhile.
