Joseph Mathew wins Suzuki Gixxer Cup 2018 Round 3, concludes in Coimbatore

Coimbatore, October 16, 2018: Chennai’s Joseph Mathew starred in a thrilling weekend of racing at the Kari Motor Speedway and won the Round 3 of Suzuki Gixxer Cup, concluded at Coimbatore. In an emphatic display of speed, and maturity that belied their young ages, the youngsters made this a weekend to remember for the racing-enthusiasts of Coimbatore.

In Race 1, defending champion Joseph Mathew stamped his authority at the onset with a commanding performance. He romped home in just 12:36:577 minutes, ahead of Malsawmdawngliana from Aizwal who clocked 12:41:202 minutes. Sachin Chaudhary from Ahmedabad finished third to complete the podium.

The Race 2 was a thrilling affair where Joseph Mathew yet again took the top spot to making it 2 out of 2 top finishes in Round 3. He clocked 14:02:704 seconds. Malsawmdawngliana from Aizwal finished second, while Syed Muzamil Ali from Bengaluru emerged third.

The Championship now moves to next and the final round to be held from November 16 to 18 at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The riders demonstrated a better lap time over the past two rounds of Suzuki Gixxer Cup. The fastest lap during race 1 was by Joseph Mathew in 01:22:389 minutes, while in Race 2, the feat was achieved by Malsawmdawngliana, who clocked 01:21:767 minutes.

The Suzuki Gixxer Cup is conducted under the aegis of FIM and FMSCI, in association with JK Tyre Motorsports at Kari Speedway, Coimbatore. Here, biking enthusiast come to experience the thrill of racing and support their favourite contender. For round 3, 65 Gixxer owners from in and around areas of Coimbatore gathered together at the venue to witness the excitement.

From a total of 300 entries received from all over the country from which a total of 22 riders were shortlisted for the Suzuki Gixxer Cup. The selected riders were given a thorough technical training session for 3-days at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore; followed by theory sessions & on track riding under the guidance of experts in the industry as a part of their race preparations.
