BMW has unveiled the all-new BMW i3, the second model under its Neue Klasse lineup and the first all-electric version of the 3 Series.

Positioned as a major technological shift, the new i3 combines next-gen EV hardware, software-led driving dynamics, and a redesigned user interface.
Powertrain and Performance
The i3 debuts as the i3 50 xDrive, featuring dual motors:
- Power: 469 hp
- Torque: 645 Nm
- Drivetrain: Dual-motor all-wheel drive
BMW says the new sixth-generation eDrive tech significantly improves efficiency and responsiveness.

- Range: up to 900 km (WLTP)
- 800V architecture
- DC fast charging: up to 400 kW
- 10 mins charge gets 400 km range
The battery uses a new round-cell, cell-to-pack design, improving energy density and packaging.
The i3 also introduces bidirectional charging:
- Vehicle-to-Load
- Vehicle-to-Home
- Vehicle-to-Grid
Design Logic
The brand has retained the 3 series while evolving its:

- New 2.5-box silhouette
- Long wheelbase, short overhangs
