BMW M440i xDrive Convertible Launched in India at ₹1.09 Crore

BMW has launched the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible in India, priced at ₹1.09 crore (ex-showroom).

The car comes to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and sits as a more lifestyle-focused performance option in BMW’s lineup.

A Convertible with Performance Focus

The M440i Convertible combines open-top driving with strong performance.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre inline-six engine that produces:

  • 374 hp
  • 500 Nm torque
  • 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
  • Top speed of 250 km/h

It also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system, which helps improve both performance and efficiency.

Soft Top and Design

One of the highlights is the fabric soft-top roof, which can open or close in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Design highlights include:

  • Adaptive LED headlights
  • Blacked-out kidney grille
  • CSL-inspired tail lights
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Sporty rear diffuser

The overall look is sporty but still elegant, which fits the car’s character.

Interior and Features

Inside, the focus is on a modern and driver-focused cabin.

Key features include:

  • BMW Curved Display with a 12.3-inch driver screen and 14.9-inch touchscreen
  • Harman Kardon sound system
  • M Sport seats with memory and lumbar support
  • Flat-bottom M steering wheel
  • Ambient lighting

The cabin can also be customised with different upholstery and trim options.

Driving and Technology

The M440i Convertible comes with:

  • 8-speed automatic gearbox
  • xDrive all-wheel drive
  • Adaptive M suspension
  • M Sport differential
  • M Sport brakes

BMW says these systems are designed to balance comfort with sporty driving.

On the tech side, it gets:

  • BMW Operating System 8.5
  • Connected car features
  • Digital key support
  • Head-up display
  • Parking assistant with a 360-degree camera

Conclusion

The BMW M440i xDrive Convertible brings something rare to India, a proper six-cylinder performance convertible. It is expensive, but for buyers looking for open-top driving with strong performance, it offers a unique appeal.
