Diesel variants of Tata Tigor and Tiago is about to die.

The 1.05 l diesel engine currently available on the Tigor and Tiago are in the verge of extinction due to the upcoming BS6 norms come into effect from April 1, 2020.

Previously, Maruti has announced their plans for axe the diesel variants in their future cars. Now Tata has also the plans to avoid financial losses in creating new tech in low capacity BS6 Compliant diesel engines.

Mayank Pareek, president of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, told PTI, “We feel that low demand for entry- and mid-size diesel models will not justify the high costs involved in developing a new small-capacity engine.”

Their is no more credential information available for the future of other diesel engines, Viz; 110hp 1.5-litre diesel in the Nexon compact SUV, a 140hp 2.0-litre diesel in the Harrier SUV and the 156hp 2.2-litre diesel unit in the Hexa SUV. It hopes that Tata might get some major updates in these engines and make it compatible for BS6 norms.

The highly anticipated hatch from Tata, the Altroz is expected to have a 1.5 L diesel power plant along with the petrol variants.
