Honda in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) kick starts Road Safety Awareness Project- ‘Safer Journey for All’

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) announced the beginning of joint road safety awareness project – ‘Safer Journey for All’. The announcement was made at a press conference held in Delhi in the august presence of eminent members of the industry.

Under this project, Honda 2Wheelers India with CII will work towards addressing the issue of Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) which is a major public health issue. The campaign will focus on creating awareness on this issue, along with, strict implementation of traffic rules and scientific engineering measures to alleviate this situation which is emerging as one of the major crisis scenario in the country.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Harbhajan Singh- Director, General & Corporate Affairs, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Road traffic accidents (RTAs) have emerged as a key issue which needs to be addressed through a multi-disciplinary approach. As a socially responsible two-wheeler manufacturer, Honda is fully committed for promoting road safety & has so far educated more than 20 lac people in India on safe riding. In line with our objective to make roads safer in India for all road users, we have joined hands with CII. Under this partnership, we will be working to address the factors responsible for causing Road Traffic Accidents (RTA). Apart from other activities, we would also facilitate free eye check-up camps for truck drivers in the national capital region and provide for free of cost cataract treatment.”

Honda 2Wheelers India along with CII will undertake the following activities:

  • Eye check-up camps for commercial vehicle drivers: Eye check-up camps will be organized near national and state highways in the national capital region along with counselling sessions by eye specialist and free cataract treatment as per requirement.
  • Road Safety workshop in colleges: To create awareness among college students on safe riding.
  • NUKKAD NATAK / flash mob at industrial and shopping vicinities –Educating industrial workers and other citizens on the importance of helmet usage.
  • Skill Development Program on 2 Wheeler riding: Skill training on 2Wheeler riding for more than1000 students in semi urban areas.

Honda’s Road Safety Commitment:

For Honda 2Wheelers India, road safety comes first. In its 17 years’ journey in India, Honda has empowered more than 20 lac individuals on road safety. Adding more people every day, be it working professionals, college-goers, home-makers or senior citizens, Indians are realizing their dream of becoming an independent and safe rider via Honda safety riding and training programmes. In 2018, Honda was felicitated by Govt. of Odisha for promotion on Road Safety Training and Awareness. Leading the cause, Honda has adopted 12 traffic parks in Delhi (2), Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola (Nashik), Hyderabad, Indore, Ludhiana, Coimbatore, and Karnal.
