The Kona EV launched in India at a starting price of 25.30 lacs, which is literally in the entry level-luxury price segment. However, Indian car market has a great sales potential at this price point. In sense of EV the highlighted point to be considered is its range! Surprisingly Kona’s 39.2 kwh variant has a ARAI certified range of 452 kms on a single charge cycle.

Upon looks, the car has a unique stance which is not familiar in any other Hyundai models in India. In sense of EV the car doesn’t need air to be flow into the engine bay as in the ICE models. For this reason the front section has a design which mimics the grille integrated with body color bumper.

The interior looks elegant in all sense. The well placed instruments and good quality materials brings an upmarket feel. Moreover, the greater ergonomic design elements plays a good role in improving the driving pleasure.Like the ICE models this Fully EV variant gets a P-R-N-D gear selection switches.Furthermore, there are 3 driving modes too: Eco, Sport and Comfort.

As it is an EV, and highly refined while driving, here comes the doubt that how to aware the ongoing pedestrians and vehicles through acoustics . Yes! it has a built in virtual engine sound system to the outside world.

The perception of EV’s in Indian market has been found a positive change these days. Also the government bodies are encouraging the E-mobility through paving considerable subsidies. So it is expected to have more EV’s into the Indian auto arena in the coming years.
