Isle of Man TT Rider Daniel Ingham Dies in Qualifying Crash

Daniel Ingham, a competitor in the 2026 Isle of Man TT, has died following a crash during qualifying on Wednesday evening.

The 33-year-old rider from Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, was involved in an accident at Doran’s Bend on the opening lap of the third qualifying session.

Race organisers later confirmed his death and extended their condolences to his wife Helayna, children Joey and Phoebe, as well as his family, friends, and team.

Rising Through the Road Racing Ranks

Ingham first competed on the famous 37.7-mile Mountain Course during the Manx Grand Prix in 2016 before progressing to the TT races.

Over the years, he built a strong reputation within the road racing community, securing multiple podium finishes in the Manx Grand Prix.

His biggest achievement came in 2024 when he won the Senior Manx Grand Prix.

He had also made his debut at the North West 200 earlier this month.

Difficult Start to the 2026 TT

The 2026 Isle of Man TT has already witnessed several major incidents during practice and qualifying sessions.

Earlier in the week:

  • Eight spectators were injured after a rider crashed into a crowd in Ramsey
  • A sidecar qualifying crash at Brandish left Maria Costello and passenger Shaun Parker injured
  • Another sidecar incident involving Ryan and Callum Crowe at Crosby Leap resulted in the sidecar class being suspended for the remainder of the event

Final Take

Daniel Ingham was widely regarded as a talented and respected rider whose passion for road racing was evident throughout his career. His death is a tragic reminder of the risks associated with motorcycle road racing, particularly on demanding circuits such as the Isle of Man TT’s Mountain Course.

The motorsport community will undoubtedly mourn the loss of a rider who had become a familiar and admired figure in British road racing.
