Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 successfully concludes Leg-2 of its 12th Edition at Ropar, Punjab.

  • Sandip Institute Of Engineering and Management from Nashik, Maharashtra wins mBAJA title.
  • Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering from Bengaluru bags 2nd position & Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology, Vishnupuri, Nanded, Maharashtra holds the 3rd position respectively .
  • Only all girls team from Shri Vishnu College of Engineering, AP wins Cost Evaluation award.

Ropar, March 13, 2019: IIT Ropar ground witnessed the much-awaited leg 2 of the 12th edition of the Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA 2019, which finally came to a successful conclusion, leaving behind many exhilarating moments. A total of 26 BAJA teams completed the endurance round.

Mahindra BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 IIT ROPAR received an overwhelming response with representation from all zones- Western, Northern, Eastern and Southern zones in India.

Sandip Institute Of Engineering and Management College, from Nashik, Maharashtra  was announced the winner of the Leg 2 of the 12th edition of the BAJA series in India and it took away a cash prize of Rs 2,50,000 while Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering from Bengaluru was declared as the first runners-up, and it received Rs 1,25,000 as cash price.

Various other awards to the teams for static events were also presented. Dr Jayaraman from Dr Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Tamil Nadu got the unique Dronacharaya Award, which is meant for the mentors (faculty members) who helped students to make their ATVs. The Pride of Punjab (Punjab & Chandigarh) Award is grabbed by Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Sangrur, Punjab. Only all girls team from Shri Vishnu College of Engineering, AP won Cost Evaluation award for the lowest cost of making Baja Baghi @ Rs 2.82 lakhs.

Total 363 teams had registered in the 12th year of BAJA SAEINDIA series, out of which 251 (120- mBAJA and 50 eBAJA for Pithampur and 81 for IIT Ropar) teams qualified for the finale. However, only 46 teams for mBAJA made it to the Endurance round. This year was remarkable with 4250 students from different parts of the country celebrating the BAJA SAEINDIA 2019 theme ‘Adventure Reloaded.

Director IIT Madras, Dr Bhaskar Ramamurthy and Head Retail BPCL, Mr P S Ravi were Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively at the valedictory function.Earlier in the morning the Four-hour endurance race was flagged off by the Guest of Honour, Dr Bala K. Bharadvaj, Managing Director, Boeing Engineering and Technology Centre India and other dignitaries were present at the Endurance event. The 2.98 km long race track consisting of muddy pits, cliffs and slopes of 15-20 feets of height threw tougher challenges for the students and pushing them to their limits.
