Mahindra Thar OG Launched in India at ₹10.32 Lakh

Mahindra has launched the new Thar OG in India, with introductory prices starting at ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The three-door SUV succeeds the Thar introduced in 2020, bringing updates to its platform, suspension, styling, safety, and off-road capability.

Deliveries of the Thar OG will begin on October 11, 2026. The introductory prices are valid for deliveries made until November 30, 2026.

New Platform and Suspension

The Thar OG is built on Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform, which is claimed to offer increased stiffness. It gets rear PENTALINK suspension with a Watts Link, along with DAVINCI Damping technology and Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD).

Mahindra says these updates improve ride quality, cornering stability and handling. Electric Power Steering and enhanced NVH damping are also aimed at making the SUV more comfortable for everyday use.

More Power and Off-Road Capability

The Thar OG gets an Electronic Locking Differential and terrain modes for Mud, Sand and Snow on 4WD variants. Its engine options include:

• 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol: 159hp and 330 Nm
• 2.2-litre mHawk diesel: 150hp and 330 Nm
• 1.5-litre CRDe diesel: 117hp and 300 Nm

Mahindra states that the CRDe engine’s power and torque figures remain unchanged. Transmission and drivetrain options vary by engine and variant.

Updated Design and Safety

The Thar OG retains its familiar boxy silhouette but gets a new grille, circular LED headlamps, C-shaped DRLs, LED fog lamps and revised bumpers. R19 alloy wheels and two new colours, Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, add to the updates.

Inside, it gets Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery and a second-row armrest with a cupholder. Safety features include six airbags, front parking sensors, all-disc brakes, ESP 9.3, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, depending on the variant.
