Max Verstappen has committed his long-term future to Red Bull Racing, signing a contract extension that will keep him with the team until the end of the 2030 Formula 1 season.
The new deal ends months of speculation surrounding Verstappen’s future, despite the Dutch driver previously being contracted until 2028.
Verstappen joined Red Bull in 2016 after being promoted from Toro Rosso and has since become the most successful driver in the team’s history. Together, they have secured 71 race victories and four Drivers’ Championships.
The extension comes at an interesting time for Red Bull. The team has struggled to match the front-running pace under Formula 1’s new regulations, and Verstappen is yet to win a race in 2026, although he has recorded four podium finishes so far.
Despite this, the 28-year-old has placed his faith in the team’s rebuilding process under Team Principal Laurent Mekies.
He added that he sees a clear vision for the team’s future and is looking forward to fighting for more victories and championships.
For Laurent Mekies, keeping Verstappen at Red Bull could be one of the most significant achievements of his tenure so far. The Frenchman took over as Team Principal in July 2025 and has overseen the team’s transition into the new era.
The deal also gives Red Bull long-term stability as it looks to return to the front of the grid.
