McMurtry Speirling PURE to Make Public Debut at Monterey Car Week

McMurtry Automotive has confirmed that the production-spec Speirling PURE will make its global public debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week on August 14. The single-seat electric hypercar will then head to Laguna Seca for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion before beginning a tour across the United States.

The production model arrives with significant upgrades over the prototype, featuring a larger battery, revised chassis and improved aerodynamics while retaining its headline-grabbing performance.

Production version gets major upgrades

McMurtry says the Speirling PURE features 95 percent new components compared to the prototypes used during its record-breaking runs.

Key updates include:

  • Larger 100 kWh battery (up from 60 kWh)
  • More powerful Helix electric motors
  • Improved regenerative braking
  • New carbon-fibre monocoque
  • Larger cabin with easier ingress
  • Revised aerodynamics
  • Hydraulic power steering
  • Optional adaptive dampers

The car also gains headlights, indicators, brake lights and other features aimed at making track-day ownership easier.

Performance remains breathtaking

Despite its focus on usability, the Speirling PURE continues to offer Formula 1-rivalling performance.

Key specifications include:

  • Power: 1,000 hp
  • 0-60 mph: 1.55 seconds
  • Top speed: 305 km/h
  • Battery: 100 kWh
  • Drive: Twin-motor rear-wheel drive
  • Weight: Around 1,350 kg

McMurtry’s signature Downforce-on-Demand fan system produces up to 2,000 kg of downforce from a standstill, allowing the car to generate exceptional grip at any speed.

Limited to 100 units

Production will be capped at 100 examples worldwide.

Each Speirling PURE is priced from £995,000 (₹12,73,41,095), with first customer deliveries scheduled to begin later this year.

Final Take

The Speirling PURE is no longer just a record-setting prototype. With a larger battery, improved usability and customer-focused upgrades, McMurtry has transformed it into a production-ready hypercar. While its performance figures remain extraordinary, the company has also focused on making ownership simpler, allowing buyers to enjoy Formula 1-like performance straight out of the box.
