Mercedes-AMG Brings Two Special Editions to India

Mercedes-AMG has launched two new performance cars in India, the AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ Aero Track Edition and the AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition. Both are special editions aimed at buyers who want more than the standard offering. The A45 S is priced at ₹87 lakh and the GLE 53 at ₹1.52 crore (ex-showroom, all-India).

AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition

The A45 S is already one of the most powerful hot hatches on sale anywhere. This Aero Track Edition adds a wind-tunnel-tested aerodynamics package on top of that, making it look and feel closer to a track car than a hatchback.

The aero package includes:

– Enlarged front splitter with added flics in high-gloss black

– Fixed rear wing in high-gloss black

– Rear apron with lateral airflow edges for better stability

– Aerodynamic diffuser blade in high-gloss black

The car also gets the AMG Night Package, which gives exterior elements, splitter, mirror housings, sill inserts, beltline trim, and exhaust tips, a high-gloss black finish. Standard wheels are 19-inch matt black forged alloys with red brake callipers.

An optional MANUFAKTUR Mountain Grey Magno matte paint finish is available for an additional ₹3 lakh.

Specs at a glance:

– Engine: 1991 cc, 4-cylinder

– Power: 421 hp at 6,750 rpm

– Torque: 500 Nm at 5,000–5,250 rpm

– 0–100 km/h: 3.9 seconds

– Top speed: 270 km/h

AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition

The GLE 53 is a large performance SUV. The Performance Edition adds hardware and software upgrades that make it sharper to drive without giving up everyday usability.

Key additions include:

– AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL for active roll stabilisation and improved cornering

– High-performance composite brakes with ventilated discs and red callipers

– AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather with integrated controls

– AMG Track Pace, a live telemetry system that logs lap times, acceleration, braking, and steering data through the MBUX screen

Outside, it runs 22-inch matt black AMG cross-spoke alloys with a high-sheen rim flange.

Specs at a glance:

– Engine: 2999 cc, 6-cylinder

– Power: 435 hp at 6,100 rpm

– Torque: 520 Nm at 1,800–5,800 rpm

– 0–100 km/h: 5.3 seconds

– Top speed: 250 km/h

The Bigger Picture

Both cars fit into Mercedes-Benz India’s broader push to grow its performance and top-end portfolio. The A45 S brings track-focused style to the hatchback space. The GLE 53 Performance Edition adds genuine driver engagement to a segment that usually prioritises comfort. Together, they give AMG buyers in India two very different, but equally serious, options.
