Mercedes-Benz Brings New CLA EV to India at ₹55 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV in India, with prices starting at ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom).

The CLA EV becomes the most affordable Mercedes on sale in India and also replaces multiple entry-level models in the brand’s lineup.

Prices and Variants

The electric CLA is available in three versions:

  • CLA 200 Standard Range-₹55 lakh
  • CLA 250+Long Range-₹59 lakh
  • CLA 250+Launch Edition-₹64 lakh

Mercedes says it has already received over 400 bookings since bookings opened in March.

Range and Performance

The CLA EV comes in two battery options.

CLA 200 Standard Range

  • 58 kWh battery
  • Up to 542 km range (WLTP)
  • 224 hp and 335 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds

CLA 250+Long Range

  • 85 kWh battery
  • Up to 792 km range (WLTP)
  • 272 hp and 335 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds

Both versions use a two-speed gearbox, something still uncommon among EVs.

Another highlight is its 800V electrical architecture, which allows fast charging at up to 320 kW. Mercedes says it can add around 300 km of range in 10 minutes.

Design Highlights

The new CLA keeps its coupe-like silhouette, but now leans heavily into aerodynamics and EV-specific styling.

  • Illuminated grille with 142 backlit stars
  • Star-themed headlights and tail-lights
  • AMG styling package on higher variants

Mercedes has also raised ground clearance and adapted the suspension for Indian roads.

Interior and Features

Inside, the CLA EV puts a strong focus on technology.

  • 14-inch central touchscreen
  • 10.25-inch digital driver display
  • Optional Superscreen triple-display setup
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Burmester 3D audio system
  • Powered, heated and massaging front seats

Other highlights include:

  • 360-degree camera
  • Level 2+ADAS
  • Auto park assist
  • Wireless charging
  • Six airbags

Storage includes a 405-litre boot and an additional 101-litre frunk.

Why It Matters

The CLA EV is important because it gives Mercedes a more accessible electric sedan in India, while also bringing long-range EV tech into a relatively lower price point for the brand.

With a claimed 792 km range in top-spec form, it also arrives with one of the bigger headline numbers in the segment.

Conclusion

The CLA EV brings a lot to Mercedes’ entry luxury segment, long range, fast charging, strong tech and a familiar coupe-sedan shape.

More importantly, it signals Mercedes pushing EVs deeper into the mainstream in India.
