Mercedes launches the S-Class of SUV’s

2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS launched, Priced to be around a crore.

Mercedes-Benz has launched the largest and most luxurious SUV. The much anticipated GLS offers more space, more comfort, and more luxury. We have learned that the car will be offered in both petrol and diesel options. Dimensionally bigger than the outgoing model, the 2020 GLS is 77mm longer and 22 mm wider. It also has a 60 mm larger wheelbase. The car will be equipped with 330 hp 400d diesel and 367 hp 450 petrol variants. On offer, is the brand new MBUX multimedia system.

The three-row SUV now in its 3rd generation was unveiled internationally last year. The car is based on Modular High Architecture (MHA). The 400 d is equipped with a 3.0 liter, inline-six diesel engine that churns out 330 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The 450 on the other hand churns out 367 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The 48 V mild hybrid system found on the 450 makes an additional 22 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Despite being a two-tonne SUV, both variants claim 0-100 kph sprints in just over 6 seconds. Both the engines are mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with Mercedes latest 4Matic four-wheel-drive system.

The 2020 GLS is feature-rich and comes with twin 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, also it hosts the latest MBUX multimedia system with voice command and gesture control, a panoramic sunroof, 64 colors ambient lighting, 5-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging at the front and rear, rear-seat entertainment screens, LED headlamps, 21-inch alloys, and air suspension. A button in the boot tumbles down the mid-row and third-row seats making 2400 liters of cargo space. The GLS comes with 9 airbags, off-road ABS, blind spot assist, active brake assist, hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. The GLS is most likely to be at loggerheads with BMW’s X7.
