We drove the MG Cyberster at India’s national media drive, and in many ways it feels like a natural evolution of MG’s long British roadster heritage, only now without an engine, and with scissor doors. The question was straightforward: does it justify ₹75 lakh, and does it actually drive as well as it looks?

Design: Style as a statement
- The Cyberster doesn’t whisper. It announces itself, and every design choice is intentional.
- Sculpted front end with layered psyche-design lighting
- Air vents that draw inspiration from classic supercar proportions
- Long bonnet with a strong, aggressive stance
- Electrically operated scissor doors with obstacle-sensing technology
- Convertible soft top in dual-tone black across select colours
- Available in four colours: Yellow, Red, Beige, and Grey
- Arrow-inspired rear design with clean, modern tail lamp clusters
- No exhaust tips, the clean rear makes the EV’s identity obvious

Despite the drama, the Cyberster never feels overdone. It looks like something designed to be driven, not just photographed.
Interior: Luxury where it counts
Step inside through those scissor doors, and the Cyberster shifts its tone from theatrical to genuinely refined.

- Driver-centric cockpit with a tight, purposeful layout
- High-quality leather with excellent fit and finish throughout
- Ventilated front seats as standard
- Digital instrument cluster with clean readouts
- Multiple physical controls and drive selector buttons are within easy reach
- Launch control mode triggers a rocket emblem on screen
- 250 litres of boot space, impressive for a convertible
The colour combinations feel considered rather than flashy. This is affordable luxury done with real intention.
Performance and drive: where the price proves to be sensible
This is where the Cyberster makes its case most convincingly.
- Dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain
- 536 bhp and 725 Nm of torque
- 0–100 kmph claimed in 3.2 seconds
- 77 kWh ultra-thin battery at just 110mm, mounted centrally
- Near 50:50 weight distribution felt immediately on track
- 580 km MIDC-certified range
- Drive modes: Comfort, Sport, Super Sport, and Launch Control
Key impressions from our drive:
- The car feels planted and confident from the very first corner
- Steering communication is precise and progressive for a vehicle of this weight
- Launch control is clean and drama-free, no wheelspin, no vagueness
- Braking is sharp and immediate, defying the mass of the car
- Body roll is well managed; understeer builds predictably at the limit
- The convertible roof-down experience adds a genuine roadster dimension
It isn’t a lightweight sports car, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But it is one of the most composed and confidence-inspiring electric performance cars at this price point.
Verdict
The Cyberster doesn’t try to reinvent MG. It electrifies what MG has always done best.
- Classic roadster DNA is alive and well
- Performance credentials are genuinely earned, not just claimed
- Design and interior quality justify the ₹75 lakh ask
- Sets a new benchmark for attainable electric performance in India
This isn’t just MG going electric. It’s MG proving that electric can still be visceral, stylish, and deeply fun to drive.
