It has been a month ago while the new alliance between Mahindra Group and the Ford Motor Company to develop a new mid-size SUV for the Indian market was announced. Now we have spotted the car is being testing across the southern part of India.
It seems to be the car underpins the same platform with the SsangYong Tivoli, the brand under the Mahindra&Mahindra possession. The side profile of the car resembles with the market available XUV-300, which in fact derived from the Tivoli platform. However, the interior seems to be distinct from the XUV-300. The front and rear fascia were heavily camouflaged. Nevertheless, the side profiles are more obvious. The car is expected to launch soon into the market.
The agreement they have signed solidifies the ongoing strategic collaboration between the two companies with a focus on product development for India and emerging markets. The joint release also said that the new mid-size SUV to be built on a Mahindra product platform and powertrain.
The strategic alliance between the two companies is focused on leveraging the benefits of both companies — Ford’s global reach and expertise and Mahindra’s scale and successful operating model in India. Teams from both companies continue to collaborate on all areas of mutual interest including electrification, distribution and product development.
