Mahindra Expands Thar ROXX Lineup with New ‘STAR EDN’ Variant: Prices Start at ₹16.85 Lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially expanded its Thar ROXX portfolio with the launch of a new aesthetic-focused variant, the Thar ROXX STAR EDN. Positioning it as a premium addition to the existing range, the manufacturer has introduced several bespoke design elements to both the exterior and interior while maintaining the mechanical specifications of the standard model.

The Thar ROXX STAR EDN is launched with an introductory starting price of ₹16.85 lakh (ex-showroom).

Exterior and Interior Aesthetic Updates

The STAR EDN distinguishes itself primarily by its dark theme and a new signature colour. Key exterior changes include a Piano Black front grille and matching Piano Black R19 alloy wheels, replacing the standard finishes to provide a more sophisticated fascia.

A new hero colour, Citrine Yellow, makes its debut with this edition. Buyers can also opt for existing shades, including Tango Red, Everest White, and Stealth Black.

Inside the cabin, the primary update is the introduction of all-black leatherette seats featuring suede accents, a shift from the lighter interiors seen in other variants. The cabin maintains its feature-rich environment, including:

  • Ventilated front seats and a 60:40 split rear recline function.
  • A dual-screen setup featuring a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system and a matching 26.03 cm digital instrument cluster.
  • A 9-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
  • A panoramic sunroof, marketed as the “Skyroof”.

Engine Specifications and Mechanicals

The STAR EDN is offered exclusively with a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) system. It continues to utilize Mahindra’s established mStallion and mHawk engine families.

Engine TypeTransmissionPowerTorque
G20 TGDi mStallion (Turbo Petrol)6-Speed AT130 kW (177 hp)380 Nm
D22 mHawk (Diesel)6-Speed MT / AT128.6 kW (175 hp)400 Nm

Mechanical highlights for off-road and varied terrain include a Brake Locking Differential and the Gen II Adventure Statistics system.

Safety and Structural Integrity

Built on the M_GLYDE body-on-frame platform, the Thar ROXX is engineered to meet 5-star Bharat NCAP safety standards. Standard safety equipment on the STAR EDN includes:

  • Six airbags (Driver, Passenger, Side, and Curtain).
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
  • 360-degree surround-view camera and front/rear parking sensors.
  • Level 2 ADAS features, including Cruise Control and emergency SOS calling.

Variant-Wise Pricing (Ex-Showroom)

The Thar ROXX STAR EDN pricing is tiered based on the engine and transmission choice:

  • D22 Diesel MT: ₹16.85 Lakh
  • G20 Petrol AT: ₹17.85 Lakh
  • D22 Diesel AT: ₹18.35 Lakh

Since its initial release in 2024, the Thar ROXX has secured 36 industry awards, including the 2025 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY). This new edition aims to sustain that momentum by targeting buyers looking for a factory-customized look without moving to aftermarket modifications.
