Volkswagen has revealed the second-generation T-Roc, which could be the brand’s final all-new car with a combustion engine, depending on future market trends. The new T-Roc is based on the Golf and now looks more like the larger Tiguan, with a fresh design, bigger size, and updated technology.

Design and Size
The new T-Roc has grown by 120mm, making it 4,373mm long—now even bigger than the Taigun sold in India. It keeps its coupe-like shape but gets new wraparound headlamps and tail-lamps, both connected by full-width light bars. The front features a large black grille and C-shaped accents, while the rear has a two-tone bumper with a sporty look. The T-Roc is available in bold new colours and can be fitted with wheels up to 20 inches.

Interior and Features
Inside, the T-Roc has a modern, minimalistic dashboard with a 10-inch digital instrument display and a 12.9-inch floating touchscreen for infotainment. There’s a rotary dial on the center console for drive modes, audio, and interior settings, but the climate controls are still on the screen. Volkswagen says it has improved the quality and finish of the materials used.

Engines and Hybrid Tech
At launch, the T-Roc will offer two 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engines with mild-hybrid tech, making 115hp or 150hp, both paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. A 2.0-litre mild-hybrid with all-wheel drive will join the lineup next year.
The big news is a new strong-hybrid powertrain coming in 2026—a first for Volkswagen. This “self-charging” hybrid will work like Toyota’s system, using a petrol engine and a small electric motor for better efficiency and lower emissions. It will be available in 136hp and 170hp versions, with up to 306Nm of torque and the ability to run on electric power alone for short distances. However, there will be no plug-in hybrid option.

Future Plans
Volkswagen says the new T-Roc will be its last all-new combustion-engine model, but the company will stay flexible based on market demand. All future new models are planned to be fully electric, unless customer needs change.
