The hot topic since some weeks on most automotive forums have been about the next generation S Class W223. And now we have confirmation on many of the discussions. Mainly on the engine front and technical specifications. Talking on the design end it is evident from the spy pics that the new car will be wider and a bit taller than its predecessor. This will show an update in passenger comfort, space and also vehicle dynamics. Also evident from the pics are the changes in the rear light cluster from horizontal to vertical alignment as we have seen in the new gen A class. It’s also confirmed that most of the character lines will be removed and the new car will be more about proportions rather than details.
Now talking about the engine spec there are chances of retiring the v12 for a more frugal option in the v8’s and inline 6’s with hybrid tech. And the v12’s will find its place in the Maybach models. There is also talk about an all electric and plug-in hybrid on the cards for the W223.
On the Technology front, it is expected that the 7th gen S-Class, W223 will be the first fully-autonomous Mercedes-Benz for the masses, with level 4 and 5 self-driving capabilities being hinted by Mercedes-Benz.
