BMW is developing next generation of 3 Series and the test mule has been spotted on public roads so many times. BMW commenced testing of next generation M3 sedan which is the performance model based on regular 3 Series. The test mule is heavily camouflaged without revealing much details. The headlamps and tail lamps are dummy too, so the final design is yet to confirm. One thing we can confirm from spy images is that the track is wider than current M3 and lower for better aerodynamic efficiency.
The new CLAR platform further improves the strength of chassis with aluminium and high strength steel used for construction. Another question yet to get answer is whether new M3 get four wheel drive system like the one on M5. The chances are really high considering the length and width. BMW M3 is powered by 3.0 L Turbo charged engine with 48 V electric system for added punch and the combined output is above 500 HP. This engine is mated to 8 speed automatic gearbox. We can expect BMW to debut new M3 in 2020.
