Novitec Fixed Ferrari 12Cilindri: Tweaking Maranello’s V12 Grand Tourer Because Nothing Is Ever Enough!

The Ferrari 12Cilindri has barely rolled out of Maranello and already the engineers at Novitec are sharpening their spanners. With a top speed exceeding 340 km/h and a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12, the “standard” 12Cilindri is more than a little capable. But in the arms race of horsepower and exclusivity, standing still is never an option especially if there’s a tuning house with a reputation for squeezing extra drama out of Italy’s finest.

Aerodynamics: Carbon Where Carbon Didn’t Exist

Ferrari’s own carbon fibre handiwork already features heavily on the 12Cilindri. Novitec, however, takes the stance that you really can’t have too much. There are bespoke visible-carbon elements for the lip spoiler, rear spoiler, mirror caps, hood outlets, rocker panels, and even the rear diffuser. Official line: these bits increase downforce and aid stability at speed. Unofficial line: it also helps when people ask you if “that’s real carbon, mate”.

Wheels, Tyres and the Age-Old “Mine’s Bigger” Debate

Novitec’s collaboration with Vossen has spawned alloys up to 22 inches at the rear, about the diameter of a medium pizza. Front wheels are 21 inches, because symmetry is for accountants. Five-pair spoke designs, endless colour options, and centrelock styling telegraph intent, but also, let’s face it, fill those wheel arches like a good tailor hitting your inseam just right.

Tyres match the beef: 275/35 ZR 21 up front and 325/30 ZR 22 behind. That’s enough contact patch to keep you glued to the road, or at least enough to have you Googling “ferrari tyre replacement cost” after an enthusiastic Sunday drive.

Handling: Lower, Because Gravity Still Works

Alongside the wheels come Novitec’s sports springs that bring the car closer to tarmac by 30mm. Benefits include more spirited handling and the joy of seeing your mate wince every time you approach a speed bump.

The V12 and Exhausts: Symphony With A Volume Knob

Performance upgrades for the V12 are still brewing (presumably involving computers, dynos, and a lot of espresso). For now, the main event is a new exhaust system: lighter, louder, available in Formula 1-grade INCONEL, and, if you must, with gold-plated pipes. Four tailpipes, each bigger than the average coffee can, mean your neighbours will definitely know when you’ve left home, whether they want to or not.

Butterfly valves let you toggle between “stealth mode” and “wake the village”. On show or on track, at least you’ve got options.

Interior: Call It “Yours”

Inside, Novitec will trim the interior in any combination of colours or materials you fancy, short of actual velvet wallpaper. It’s customisation without the usual constraints, so taste (or lack thereof) is the only limit.

In Context: Why Does This Matter?

To some, the Ferrari 12Cilindri needs tweaking like a Bengal tiger needs a caffeine supplement. For others, the Novitec package is proof that engineering and art are never truly finished, just waiting for the next bright idea and a set of metric Allen keys.

In sum: Is this “too much”? Probably. But when it comes to red-blooded Italian V12s, too much is often just enough and at least you can blame Novitec the next time you can’t sneak quietly home from the club.
