Skoda Auto Volkswagen has began the production of the new Kushaq at the Chakan Plant based in Pune. The seventh largest car-maker in India expressed its focus on low ownership costs and quick turnaround times for the cars rolling out.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen group headquartered in Pune oversees operations of six Volkswagen Group owned brands: Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Bentley.
Skoda began production in India 25 years ago at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad). Today, the company operates two manufacturing units including the Chakan plant in Pune. Both plants have an annual capacity of 315,000.
The manufacturing facilities helped build models like: Skoda Kylaq, Kushaq, slavia, Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus. Total number of units crossed 500,000 in 2025.
The carmaker has played a major role as an export hub under the “Make in India for India and the World” initiative with over 700,000 units shipped to 40+ countries.
