SWITCH Mobility, a global leader in electric buses and part of the Hinduja Group, has sent the first 10 electric buses to the National Transport Corporation (NTC) of Mauritius. This delivery is part of a special gift of 100 electric buses from the people and Government of India to Mauritius. The launch event included the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, the Minister of Land Transport, Hon Osman Mahomed, India’s High Commissioner to Mauritius, Shri Anurag Srivastava, and other important guests from both countries. Their presence showed how important this project is for both nations.

These 100 SWITCH EiV12 buses are made in India at SWITCH’s advanced factory in Chennai. The buses combine international design and technology with Indian manufacturing skills, supporting the ‘Make in India for the World’ vision. This project highlights India’s growing role as a global hub for electric vehicle manufacturing.
The all-electric SWITCH EiV12 bus can seat up to 45 passengers and is designed for city travel. It offers high standards in performance, safety, comfort, and reliability. The buses were delivered through an open tender by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in India and will be run by Mauritius’ state-owned NTC.
RG Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer of SWITCH Mobility, said the company is proud to deliver these buses to Mauritius. He explained that the buses support Mauritius’ goal for cleaner and healthier transport. This partnership shows a shared commitment to clean mobility, better urban transport, and a higher quality of life for people in Mauritius. SWITCH Mobility aims to help Mauritius with smart, efficient, and eco-friendly transport solutions.

The SWITCH EiV12 is designed for short and medium city routes. It is lightweight, easy to drive in busy city streets, and has a fast-charging system that saves space at bus depots. The bus uses SWITCH iON, a smart system that monitors the vehicle’s health and helps manage the fleet. For safety, the bus has an advanced fire detection and suppression system, and its batteries are placed low for better stability.
These electric buses are built to handle the busy city transport needs of Mauritius, focusing on sustainability, reliability, and efficiency. This delivery marks a big step in SWITCH Mobility’s global journey and shows India’s strength in making and exporting world-class electric vehicles.
