Tesla Launches Model Y Premium RWD in India at ₹50.89 Lakh

Tesla has expanded its Indian lineup with the launch of the new Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive. Positioned below the recently launched six-seat Model Y L, the new variant is priced at ₹50.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026.

What’s New?

The Model Y Premium introduces several upgrades over the standard version, including:

  • All-black premium interior with black headliner
  • Larger 16-inch touchscreen
  • Optional Zen Grey interior theme
  • Updated cabin materials and trim finishes

Tesla says the changes are aimed at offering a more premium and refined ownership experience.

Performance, Range and Practicality

The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive offers:

  • Up to 500 km WLTP range
  • 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds
  • Seating for up to five occupants
  • Up to 2,138 litres of cargo space with the rear seats folded

The SUV continues to focus on practicality while delivering the instant acceleration expected from an electric vehicle.

Ownership and Financing

Tesla is offering financing plans with:

  • EMIs starting from ₹39,990 per month
  • Down payment of ₹6 lakh

The company claims owners can save up to ₹20,000 per month through lower fuel and maintenance costs compared to conventional SUVs and sedans.

Tesla’s Home Charging Program is now available across India, while the company says additional public charging locations are also being planned.

Existing Model Y L Continues

Alongside the new Model Y Premium, Tesla will continue offering the recently launched Tesla Model Y L, priced from ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The six-seat SUV offers:

  • Up to 681 km WLTP range
  • 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds
  • Up to 2,539 litres of cargo space with rear seats folded

Tesla Experience Centres in India

Customers can order both models through Tesla’s official website and visit experience centres in:

  • Mumbai (BKC)
  • Delhi (Aerocity)
  • Gurugram (Sohna Road)

Final Take

The new Tesla Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive broadens Tesla’s appeal in India by offering a more attainable entry point into the brand.

With improved cabin features, a 500 km range and competitive financing options, it is likely to attract buyers looking to move from premium ICE SUVs to a fully electric alternative.
