The biggest member of the Mini marquee, the Mini Countryman was launched in India today at Mini’s Delhi Showroom, Bird Automotive. The new avatar of the ‘Big’ Mini comes to India, and is to be manufactured at the BMW Chennai plant, with both petrol and diesel variants, the Countryman S, Countryman S JCW and the Countryman SD. The countryman is Mini’s answer to entry level SUV’s in India. The car hasn’t yet cracked the market and hearts of the Indian crowd. And the company hopes to change this with the new avatar. Deliveries of the Made in India car is set to start by June 2018.
The new Countryman will have two engine options in its lineup. The diesel will be powered by a 2 litre inline 4 engine producing 190 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque from 1750 rpm. Whereas the petrol will be powered by an inline 4, 2 litre turbo producing 192 hp of power and 380 Nm of torque at 1350 rpm.
