The AMG CLS 53 is powered by 3.0 L straight six petrol engine with a 50 kw electric model with an combined output of 435 HP. But the higher torque output (not yet revealed the figure) from the electric engine will help AMG CLS 53 to match AMG CLS 63 performance. To improve efficiency of battery pack, Mercedes has given regenerative braking to charge the battery. This same engine will make its debut on E63 later in 2018.

Mercedes upcoming coupe sedan AMG GT Four will be placed above CLS. The AMG GT Four sedan is powered by 4.0 L V8 engines from AMG GT sports car series.
