The new and powerful Land Cruiser comes with cosmetic tweaks

Intro: After the mid-life upgrade of the Land Cruiser back in 2015, there were minor tweaks made in the exterior and the interior. On the exterior it gets additional elements such as new hexagonal grille, LED headlamps, restyled tail-lights, and redesigned alloy wheels. All this means the SUV is looking menacing and has a lot of road presence. With elevated horizontal character lines, a new three slat grille, and chrome garnish that extends horizontally across the LED headlamps. The car comes loaded with a lot of features, and it sticks up to the tag of being a luxury SUV. Powering the car is a 4.5 liter twin turbo V8 diesel unit. The motor is carried forward from the previous unit. The motor is known to produce robust amounts of power and it comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Land cruiser is priced at Rs. 1.34 crore and is expected to compete against the Range Rover. Bearing in mind there are minor cosmetic changes, it remains the same mechanically. The power train, transmission, and four-wheel drive are a carry forward from the previous model.

Exterior: Upfront you get the new three slats hexagonal grille flanked by the LED headlamps. It comes with new alloy wheels. The rear comes with reworked LED tail-lights. Chrome garnish across the LED headlamps adds more appeal to the SUV.

Interior: New changes include – heated steering wheel and advanced 4.2-inch audio-video infotainment system amongst others.

Engine: Powering the Land Cruiser is a high capacity 4.5 liters diesel engine tuned to produce 268 bhp of power and 650 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and the drive is channelized to all four wheels through a four-wheel-drive system.

Features: It gets features like – automatic projector LEDs, LED clearance lamps, fog lamps in front and rear, power-operated heated ORVM’s with electro-chromatic function, memory, and camera. The car also gets – LED rear combination lamps, rear spoiler, and moon roof. An audio system with touchscreen EMV, 14 JBL speakers, USB port, Aux-in, and AM/FM are integrated inside.

Braking and Handling: It is equipped with ventilated discs both at the front and rear.

Safety: It comes with downhill assist control, hill start assist control, ABS with EBD and Brake assist, 10 airbags, active front seat headrest, vehicle stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, immobilizer with power siren, and ELR seat belts on all seats.
