India’s Most Favourite MPV, the Toyota Innova HyCross has achieved a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash safety tests, making it one of the safest cars on Indian roads today. It performed impressively in both adult and child occupant protection categories, the results are amazing.
In adult safety, the HyCross scored 30.47 out of 32, while in child safety, it earned 45 out of 49. These outstanding results put the HyCross among the top-rated vehicles tested under India’s safety program so far.

A key factor behind this strong performance is Toyota’s TNGA-C modular platform, which provides solid structural strength and crash protection. The tested variants included the Petrol GX (8-seater) and the Hybrid VX (8-seater) and ZX (7-seater) models.

- Standard airbags for both driver and front passenger
- Curtain airbags offering side impact protection across all three rows
- Seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters for the front seats

- In frontal crash tests, the Innova earned 14.47 points, with “adequate” ratings for chest and tibia protection in the front row and “good” ratings for all other areas.
- In the side impact test, it scored a perfect 16 out of 16, showing “good” protection across the board.
- The side pole test also received a satisfactory “OK” rating.
Child Safety Results:
- A perfect score of 24/24 in the dynamic crash test using dummies representing 18-month and 3-year-old children
- 12/12 for proper installation of child seats
- 9 points from the vehicle’s design and safety assessment for child occupants
