Volvo XC40 bags the ICOTY 2019 Premium Car of The Year award.

ICOTY ( Indian Car Of The Year) is considered to be the most prestigious award in the Indian Automobile industry. This time, the 2019 iteration of the Award includes a new category for the Premium Cars. The Volvo XC40 has the opportunity to bags the first ever Premium Car Award by ICOTY.

The jury Committee is headed by Yogendra Pratap (Auto Today), Rahul Ghosh (Auto Today), Dhruv Behl (Auto X), Ishan Raghava  (Auto X), Aspi Bhathena (Car India), Sarmad Kadri (Car India), Sirish Chandran (Evo India), Aninda Sardar (Evo India), Hani Musthafa (Flywheel), Kartik Ware (Motoring World), Raunak Ajinkya (Motoring World), Abhay Verma (Overdrive), Rohit Paradkar (Overdrive),  Girish Karkera (Top Gear), Agasti Kaulgi (Top Gear), Muralidhar Swaminathan (The Hindu Business Line), Pablo Chaterji (Man’s World), and Vikrant Singh (CarWale)

The short listings criteria are based on the premium cars available in India above 40 lakh INR which can falls under the production set-up of Made-in-India, CKD or the CBU in category. The votes from the ICOTY jury members determines the final verdict. The Volvo XC60, elder sibling to the winner XC 40 acquired the second position, while the Mercedes-AMG E63 S secured the third position.

The Volvo XC 40 is the funky looking car in the Volvo line-up in India. The car already proven its potential via the likes the practical luxury SUV in its segment along with the outstanding offers to choose from. Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India receives the award from Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Limited on behalf of the ICOTY committee.

Winning in the inaugural edition of the Premium Car of the Year 2019, Mr. Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, commented, “We are extremely happy that there is an extension of ICOTY IMOTY to a Premium Car of The Year, I feel there is a lot that a premium car gets to the market from top-notch technology to safety and connectivity.
