Ducati India has officially expanded its high-performance lineup with the launch of the all-new XDiavel V4. Shifting away from the previous L-twin architecture, the new cruiser adopts the sophisticated V4 Granturismo engine, bringing MotoGP-derived technology to the premium sport-cruiser segment.

The XDiavel V4 is positioned as a “technological bridge” between the relaxed ergonomics of a traditional cruiser and the visceral performance metrics of a sportbike.

The Heart of the Machine: V4 Granturismo Engine

The most significant update is the transition to the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine. Replacing the 1262 Testastretta DVT, this new powertrain delivers 168 hp at 10,750 rpm and 126 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

A key technical highlight is the counter-rotating crankshaft, a feature trickled down from Ducati’s racing division. By rotating in the opposite direction to the wheels, it compensates for the gyroscopic effect, significantly improving the bike’s agility and ease of turn-in—a rare trait for a motorcycle with a massive 240-section rear tire.

To improve rider comfort in traffic, Ducati has implemented an extended cylinder deactivation system. This tech shuts off the rear cylinder bank not only when the bike is stationary but also during low-load cruising, reducing heat soak and fuel consumption.

Design and Ergonomics

The XDiavel V4 retains its “long and low” silhouette but features more aggressive, supercar-inspired lines.

  • The Silhouette: A signature single-sided aluminum swingarm leaves the rear alloy wheel completely exposed, showcasing a five-spoke design reminiscent of American muscle cars.
  • Seating: The seat height remains accessible at 770 mm. However, Ducati has revised the ergonomics by moving the handlebar back and lowering it for better control.
  • Weight Savings: The bike now tips the scales at 229 kg (kerb), which is approximately 6 kg lighter than its predecessor, the XDiavel 1260 S.

Chassis and Braking Performance

Despite its cruiser stance, the XDiavel V4 boasts braking figures usually reserved for super sports. It features Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers gripping twin 330 mm discs at the front. The calibration of the ABS system allows for a peak deceleration of 11.5 m/s². The suspension setup includes a fully adjustable 50 mm inverted front fork and a cantilever-layout rear shock.

Advanced Electronics Suite

The motorcycle is equipped with a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that manages a comprehensive electronics package:

  • Four Riding Modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, and Wet.
  • Safety Tech: Cornering ABS, Traction Control (DTC), and Wheelie Control (DWC).
  • Performance Tech: Ducati Power Launch (DPL) and a bi-directional Quick Shifter (DQS).
  • Interface: A new 6.9-inch TFT color dashboard with optical bonding for high visibility. It supports turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone connectivity via the Ducati Link App.

Pricing and Availability

The Ducati XDiavel V4 is available in India in two exclusive metallic colorways. The pricing is as follows:

  • Burning Red: ₹30,88,700 (Ex-Showroom India)
  • Black Lava: ₹31,19,700 (Ex-Showroom India)

Service intervals remain a strong point for the Granturismo engine, with the major “Valve Clearance” (Desmo Service) check scheduled only every 60,000 km.
