The MG Majestor makes a strong first impression. It is big, bold and clearly aimed at buyers looking at full-size premium SUVs, with rivals like the Toyota Fortuner firmly in sight. After spending time with it on the road and off the road, one thing is clear: this is not just about size; there is genuine substance underneath.

First Impressions: It Has Presence

The design is unapologetically imposing. The large mosaic grille dominates the nose, while the angular lighting and blacked-out elements give it a modern, tough look.

Highlights include:

  • Massive front grille with 3D detailing
  • Dragon-eye LED lighting
  • 19-inch diamond-cut alloys
  • Connected rear light bar
  • Twin exhaust finishers
  • Strong SUV stance with generous cladding

It looks big because it is big, and that road presence will matter to many buyers.

Cabin Feels Feature-Rich

Inside, the Majestor feels loaded.

A lot is going on, but it doesn’t feel cluttered.

Notable bits include:

  • 12.3-inch infotainment screen
  • 360-degree camera
  • Three-row seating
  • Ventilated and massage seats
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • 12-speaker JBL audio
  • Wireless charging pads
  • 20+ driver assistance features

A nice touch is that important AC controls remain physical, which makes daily use easier.

Second-row space is generous, while even the third row seems genuinely usable for adults, which isn’t always the case in this segment

How It Drives

The 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel makes 215 hp and 478 Nm, and there is no shortage of torque. It feels strong when you lean into the throttle and suits the character of the SUV.

What stood out:

Positives

  • Easy to manoeuvre for its size
  • Strong low-end torque
  • Comfortable ride
  • Powerful air-conditioning
  • Good visibility all around

Things we noticed

  • Some body roll at speed
  • Fuel economy may be a concern
  • Lower-speed gearbox tuning could still improve
  • Front seat under-thigh support could be better

The suspension strikes an interesting balance, mostly comfortable, though not overly soft.

Off-Road Capability Looks Serious

This is where the Majestor starts separating itself.

It gets proper hardware and not just software-led “off-road modes”.

It offers:

  • Three differential locks
  • 4H and 4L
  • Crawl control
  • Hill descent control
  • 10 terrain modes
  • Auto off-road settings

And importantly, these systems appeared to work well in testing. The crawl control and articulation performance looked especially impressive.

Expected Price

Pricing is expected to be in the ₹40 lakh to ₹45 lakh range (ex-showroom), which would place the Majestor right in the thick of the premium full-size SUV segment and directly against established rivals like the Toyota Fortuner. If MG gets the pricing right, that could be one of this SUV’s biggest strengths.

Safety and Tech

Safety kit looks strong too, with:

  • Six airbags
  • Four disc brakes
  • Level 2 ADAS
  • ABS, EBD and ESC
  • Blind spot assist
  • Forward collision warning

There are also small, thoughtful touches, like warnings for forgotten devices and door-open alerts.

Verdict

The MG Majestor feels like a well-rounded big SUV with strong road presence, lots of features and genuine off-road ability. It has a few rough edges, but overall it feels capable and easy to like. If priced right, it could be a strong alternative in this segment.
