Bugatti has unveiled the Destrier, its third one-off creation under the Bugatti Solitaire programme. Based on the extreme Bolide, the Destrier trades aggressive aerodynamics for a cleaner, more elegant design focused on proportions and craftsmanship.

The one-off hypercar will make its public debut during Monterey Car Week, culminating at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 16, 2026.

Bolide underneath, sculpture on top

The Destrier uses the Bolide’s carbon-fibre monocoque and complete powertrain but drops much of its aggressive aerodynamic bodywork.

At just one metre tall, it sits lower than any other Bugatti model. Its larger wheels also give it a dramatic stance:

  • Front wheels: 20-inch
  • Rear wheels: 21-inch
  • Bodywork inspired by the proportions of a powerful horse
  • Wider horseshoe grille
  • Blended rear wing inspired by the Chiron Profilee

The design also draws inspiration from the historic Type 57, which formed the basis for both the Le Mans-winning Type 57G and the iconic Type 57SC Atlantic.

A completely bespoke cabin

Unlike the stripped-back Bolide, the Destrier gets a more luxurious interior designed specifically for its owner.

The cabin combines Ambre Voyageur leather and nubuck with a 3D-knitted textile featuring copper yarns. Hammered metal finishes appear across the steering wheel hub, air vents, door opener and entry plate.

A small French flag is also incorporated into the cabin as a nod to Bugatti’s heritage.

1,600hp W16

Underneath the sculpted bodywork sits the Bolide’s 8.0-litre quad-turbocharged W16.

  • Power: 1,600 hp
  • Engine: 8.0-litre W16
  • Turbochargers: Four
  • Production: One unit

Bugatti says the Destrier is less about outright performance and more about design, craftsmanship and proportion.

Final Take

The Destrier takes one of Bugatti’s wildest machines and gives it a completely different personality. It keeps the 1,600hp W16 and Bolide underpinnings, but wraps them in a much cleaner and more elegant body.

With only one example being made, the Destrier is less a hypercar and more a piece of automotive art designed to become part of Bugatti’s history.
