Toyota’s GAZOO Racing (GR) has launched the GR KART, an entry-level racing kart designed to make motorsports more accessible to children and families. The kart is now available across Japan through select karting tracks and GR Garage locations.
The GR KART is designed to address common barriers to karting, including transportation, storage, and maintenance, while allowing drivers of different ages to share the same machine.
Designed for Easy Ownership
The GR KART can be transported in a Toyota Noah or Voxy without disassembly and stored upright. Its design includes a diaphragm carburetor and an oil catch tank that allow upright storage without draining fuel or engine oil.
A belt-drive system with an automatic tensioner eliminates regular chain lubrication and belt adjustment, while a built-in self-charging battery removes the need for a separate battery.
Adjustable for Children and Adults
The kart features single-touch adjustable pedals and a tiltable steering wheel, accommodating drivers between 135 cm and 185 cm tall.
A weight box can also accommodate up to 15 kg of ballast, allowing weight adjustment for racing
Safety and Durability
GR has incorporated several features aimed at making the kart easier for beginners to use, including:
- Rear bumper designed to prevent another kart riding onto a rear tyre
- Rear-hub stopper pins
- Seat designed to protect hands from the hot muffler
- Throttle cable mounting designed to prevent the throttle from sticking open
- Rust-resistant stainless-steel rear axle
- Internal metal fuel lines for improved durability
Specifications and Price
The GR KART measures 1,820 mm long, 1,160 mm wide, and 670 mm tall, with a 1,045 mm wheelbase. It weighs 83 kg and is powered by a 215cc engine.
The kart is priced at ¥385,000 (₹2,39,278), including consumption tax.
GR KART owners can also use a dedicated app featuring driving tutorials, vehicle information and a digital driver’s passport. The passport allows eligible owners to drive at participating kart tracks without obtaining a separate kart-track licence.
