Audi has revealed the interior of its upcoming flagship Audi Q9, and the focus is clearly on space, comfort and a lounge-like luxury experience. The car is set to be revealed in summer 2026.

The Q9 will become Audi’s first full-size luxury SUV and is expected to sit above the Q7 and Q8 in the brand’s lineup.

A Cabin Designed Like a Lounge

The SUV will be offered with both a six-seat layout and a seven-seat layout.

The six-seat version gets:

  • Individual second-row captain seats
  • Ventilation functions
  • Electric adjustments
  • Business-class inspired seating

Meanwhile, the seven-seat version focuses more on family practicality, with support for child seats across the second row.

Automatic Doors for the First Time

One of the biggest highlights is the addition of fully automatic doors for the first time in an Audi SUV.

The doors can be opened or closed using:

  • Key
  • myAudi app
  • MMI system
  • Seatbelt buckle
  • Brake pedal

Audi says sensors can also detect nearby obstacles and even approaching cyclists to prevent accidents while opening doors.

Massive Panoramic Sunroof

The Q9 also gets a huge 1.5-square-metre panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency. Owners can turn sections of the glass opaque at the touch of a button instead of using a traditional sunblind.

Higher variants will also feature 84 LED lights integrated into the roof with 30 ambient lighting colours.

Premium Sound and Lighting Experience

The Q9’s interior will offer multiple luxury material options, including:

  • Fine Nappa leather
  • Dinamica microfiber
  • Wool upholstery with alpaca fibre
  • Natural wood trims
  • Carbon-fibre decorative elements

Audi also says it has reduced glossy surfaces inside the cabin to minimise fingerprints and improve the overall premium feel.

Practicality Still Matters

Despite all the luxury, Audi says the Q9 remains practical too.

Features include:

  • Flexible storage spaces
  • Wireless charging pads
  • 100W USB-C charging ports
  • Large luggage area
  • Adjustable cargo rail system in the boot

Conclusion

The Q9 looks like Audi’s biggest push yet into ultra-luxury family SUVs. Instead of focusing only on performance numbers, Audi seems to be betting heavily on comfort, space and technology inside the cabin, and honestly, the interior already looks more like a luxury lounge than a normal SUV.
