Bentley Celebrates 80 Years of Crewe Craftsmanship with One-Off Continental GTC

Bentley Motors has marked 80 years of vehicle production at its Crewe headquarters by unveiling a unique Continental GTC and hosting a gathering of 107 customer-owned Bentleys spanning more than a century of the brand’s history.

The celebration also coincided with the 90th anniversary of the Bentley Drivers Club, with vehicles ranging from the historic EXP3 to a modern Flying Spur Speed lining the famous Pyms Lane site.

One-off Continental GTC

To commemorate the milestone, Bentley’s bespoke Mulliner division created a unique Continental GTC featuring several exclusive design elements.

Exterior highlights include:

  • Bespoke Supernova Purple Ombre paint finish
  • Custom ’80’ anniversary side graphics
  • Contrasting wheel finishes

Inside, the special model receives:

  • Embroidered ’80’ headrests
  • Bespoke dashboard artwork depicting Bentley’s Design Studio
  • Anniversary-themed cabin detailing

The one-off convertible showcases Bentley’s craftsmanship and personalisation capabilities while celebrating eight decades of manufacturing in Crewe.

Celebrating Crewe’s legacy

Bentley’s Crewe factory has produced the company’s vehicles since 1946, after originally being built in 1938 to manufacture Rolls-Royce Merlin aircraft engines.

To mark the occasion, members of the Bentley Drivers Club displayed 107 Bentleys in chronological order of production, representing every major era in the company’s history.

The display included everything from pre-war W.O. Bentley models and iconic Blowers to modern Bentayga SUVs and the latest Flying Spur.

Dream Factory transformation

Bentley also highlighted the ongoing transformation of its Crewe headquarters into its next-generation Dream Factory.

Recent investments include:

  • New Design Studio
  • Engineering Technical Centre
  • Excellence Centre for Quality and Launch
  • Integrated Logistics Centre
  • New Paint Shop

The company is also converting its oldest building into the production facility for Bentley’s first electric vehicle, which is scheduled to debut in September alongside the launch of the upcoming Bentley Torcal.

Final Take

Bentley’s 80-year celebration at Crewe highlights both its rich manufacturing heritage and its future ambitions. While the one-off Continental GTC pays tribute to the craftsmanship that has defined the brand for decades, the ongoing transformation of the Crewe facility into Bentley’s advanced Dream Factory signals the company’s commitment to an electrified future without compromising its hand-built luxury tradition.
