BMW India has launched the updated 7 Series range in India with petrol and electric powertrains. The range includes the 740 M Sport, i7 50 xDrive M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive, with prices starting at ₹1.95 crore.

The new i7 is also being built locally in India, making the country only the second market after Germany to produce the electric 7 Series.

  • BMW 740 M Sport: ₹1.95 crore

Bookings are open, with deliveries starting in October 2026.

New Look

The 7 Series gets a more upright and imposing design, led by BMW’s Iconic Glow Kidney Grille and crystal headlights with Swarovski elements.

The M Sport version gets 20-inch wheels and sportier bumpers, while the i7 M70 gets darker grille lighting, black exterior details, M badges, and 21-inch M wheels.

A Tech-Heavy Cabin

The biggest changes are inside. BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system combines a 17.9-inch central screen with BMW Panoramic Vision and a 3D Head-Up Display.

Petrol or Electric?

BMW offers three very different powertrain options. The 740 gets a petrol engine, while the two i7 variants use electric power.

BMW 740 M Sport

  • 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine
  • 400 hp
  • 540 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h: 5.4 seconds
  • Top speed: 250 km/h

BMW i7 50 xDrive M Sport

  • 455 hp
  • 660 Nm
  • 112.5 kWh battery
  • Up to 728 km WLTP range

BMW i7 M70 xDrive

  • 680 hp
  • Up to 1,100 Nm
  • 0-100 km/h: 3.8 seconds
  • Top speed: 250 km/h
  • Up to 686 km WLTP range

Charging and Safety

The i7 supports 250kW DC charging, taking 10-80 percent in around 28 minutes. A 22kW AC charger takes about six hours.

Safety features include Parking Assistant Professional, remote parking, Reversing Assistant Professional and, on the i7, Driving Assistant Plus.

Final Take

The new BMW 7 Series brings more technology, luxury and power to the flagship sedan. With a 400 hp petrol engine, up to 728 km of electric range and a 680 hp i7 M70, the range offers plenty of choice, while the local production of the i7 further strengthens BMW’s electric push in India.
