BMW M 1000 R Launched in India at ₹33.5 Lakh

BMW Motorrad has launched the new BMW M 1000 R in India with prices starting at ₹33.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The hyper-naked roadster arrives as a CBU import, and bookings have opened across BMW Motorrad dealerships.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026.

Derived from the legendary BMW S 1000 R, the new model blends superbike performance with a roadster stance.

BMW says the motorcycle is designed for riders who seek track-level performance while still being able to enjoy it on the road.

Design and Aerodynamics

The new M 1000 R features an aggressive and compact design with several aerodynamic enhancements.

Key highlights:

  • New dual-flow LED headlights inspired by BMW’s RR models.
  • Prominent M winglets that improve stability at high speeds.
  • At 220 km/h, the winglets add 11 kg of front-wheel load
  • Carbon fibre wheels are available with the M Competition package.
  • Brake cooling ducts are integrated into the front mudguard.
  • Rear frame and swingarm finished in Platinum Grey Metallic.

The overall look complements the M badge with sharp, muscular and track-focused addons.

Engine and Performance

At the heart of the M 1000 R sits a high-revving inline-four derived from the S 1000 RR.

Engine specs:

  • 999 cc inline-four engine
  • 210 hp at 13,750 rpm
  • 113 Nm torque at 11,100 rpm
  • 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds
  • Top speed: 280 km/h

BMW’s ShiftCam technology optimises valve timing to deliver stronger torque at low and mid-range speeds while still allowing high-rpm power delivery.

Other performance upgrades include titanium valves, lighter cam followers and revised camshafts for improved response.

Electronics and Riding Modes

The M 1000 R packs serious electronics to help riders extract maximum performance safely.

Tech highlights:

  • 6.5-inch TFT display with M start-up animation
  • Riding modes: Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, Race Pro 1-3
  • Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) with wheelie control
  • Launch Control and pit-lane limiter
  • Electronic cruise control and heated grips
  • Adaptive turning LED lights

The traction control system has been revised and now works with the M quick-action throttle for sharper response, especially in Race mode.

M Competition Pack

Buyers can opt for the M Competition package, which adds several track-focused upgrades:

  • M Carbon wheels
  • M GPS Laptrigger and datalogger
  • Multiple M rider footrest system
  • Pillion package and pillion cover

The package also introduces the Blackstorm Metallic / M Motorsport paint scheme.

Price and Availability

  • BMW M 1000 R: ₹33.5 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Bookings open now across BMW Motorrad dealerships
  • Deliveries begin in May 2026
