BMW is expected to bring the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible to India in May 2026, with prices likely to be in the ₹1 Crore to ₹1.1 Crore range (ex-showroom).

Positioned as a more lifestyle-focused alternative to the BMW M340i, the M440i Convertible combines performance with open-top driving and could become one of the few premium convertibles in this segment.
Performance and Engine
Power comes from BMW’s well-known 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Key figures include:
- Up to 386 hp
- 500 Nm torque
- 0-100 km/h in around 4.7 seconds
- 8-speed automatic gearbox
- xDrive all-wheel drive
BMW’s adaptive suspension and M Sport differential are also part of the package, keeping the focus on performance as much as comfort.
Soft Top and Design
One of the highlights here is the soft-top roof, which opens or closes in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Other design highlights include:
- Updated LED headlights
- Revised kidney grille
- Optional Laserlight taillights
- Fabric soft-top instead of a hard-top
Interior and Features
Inside, the big update is BMW’s newer digital setup.

Features include:
- BMW Curved Display
- 12.3-inch driver display
- 14.9-inch touchscreen
- Operating System 8.5
- Harman Kardon audio
- Wireless smartphone connectivity
It also gets M-specific touches like:
- M Sport seats
- M steering wheel
- M seatbelts
Boot space stands at 385 litres with the roof up.
Rivals and India Positioning
If launched, the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible will sit in a niche of its own in India, with very few direct rivals.
Its closest alternative would be the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, while buyers may also cross-shop it with performance sedans and coupes like the BMW M340i and BMW M2 Competition or even stretch towards the BMW M4 Competition.
