Ducati Formula 73 Launched in India at ₹20 Lakh, All Units Sold Out

Ducati has brought the exclusive Formula 73 to India, a limited-edition motorcycle inspired by the iconic 1973 Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo. Priced at ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), the motorcycle is part of a global production run of just 873 numbered units. The Indian allocation has already sold out, and bookings are now closed.

The Formula 73 blends classic cafe racer styling with modern technology, celebrating a motorcycle that helped shape Ducati’s racing legacy.

Classic Design with Modern Details

The Formula 73 takes inspiration from the 750 Super Sport Desmo, which followed Ducati’s historic 1972 victory at the 200 Miglia di Imola.

Design highlights include:

  • Silver and aqua green paintwork inspired by the original motorcycle
  • Slim front fairing, clip-on handlebars and bar-end mirrors
  • 17-inch spoked wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres
  • Billet aluminium components and a Rizoma fuel cap
  • Numbered steering plate and certificate of authenticity

Each motorcycle also comes with historical photographs and design sketches from the Ducati Style Centre.

803cc Engine and Modern Technology

Power comes from an 803cc air-cooled Desmodue L-twin engine producing 73hp at 8,250rpm and 65.2Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. A Termignoni silencer adds to its character, while ride-by-wire throttle control is designed to deliver smooth and predictable response.

Key features include:

  • Ducati Traction Control
  • Cornering ABS
  • Ducati Quick Shift
  • Sport and Road riding modes
  • 4.3-inch full-TFT display
  • Full-LED lighting with daytime running lights

The Formula 73 has a wet weight of 183kg without fuel.

Final Take

The Formula 73 is aimed at riders who value heritage and design as much as performance. Its retro styling, numbered production and modern electronics give it a distinct identity within Ducati’s lineup. With India’s allocation already sold out, this cafe racer has become a collector’s motorcycle even before it reaches the road in significant numbers.
