Hennessey Blackbird Revealed with 850 hp V8, Manual Gearbox and No Screens

Hennessey Special Vehicles has unveiled the all-new Blackbird, its third hypercar after the Venom GT and Venom F5. Unlike modern hypercars that focus on electrification and digital technology, the Blackbird takes a different approach with a naturally aspirated V8, a six-speed manual gearbox, and an entirely screen-free cabin.

Inspired by the legendary Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird aircraft, the new hypercar blends aerospace-inspired styling with a strong focus on driver engagement and long-distance touring.

Analog-first hypercar

The Blackbird is built around what Hennessey calls an “analog-first” philosophy.

Instead of digital displays and touchscreens, the cabin features:

• Six-speed gated manual transmission
• Large central analog tachometer
• Physical ignition key
• Analog controls
• Rear-wheel drive layout
• No infotainment screens or steering-wheel buttons

Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are handled through the driver’s smartphone, keeping the dashboard free of displays.

6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8

Power comes from an all-new 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 developed with Ilmor Engineering.

Key performance figures include:

• Power: 800-850 hp
• Engine speed: Over 9,000 rpm
• 0-60 mph: 2.5 seconds
• Top speed: 220 mph (354 km/h)

The engine is paired exclusively with a six-speed gated manual transmission, making the Blackbird one of the few manual hypercars on sale.

Lightweight construction and touring focus

The Blackbird rides on a bespoke carbon-fibre monocoque with carbon-fibre body panels and has a target dry weight of under 1,360 kg.

Despite its performance credentials, Hennessey says the car has been engineered as a touring hypercar capable of covering more than 800 miles (1,287 km) in a day. Features such as adaptive suspension, improved cabin space, four cup holders, luggage storage and gullwing doors are aimed at making long-distance drives more comfortable.

Limited production

Production will be limited to 71 units worldwide, with prices starting from $2.5 million (₹23,81,99,750). Customer deliveries are scheduled between 2029 and 2030, and Hennessey says more than two-thirds of the production run has already been allocated ahead of its public debut at The Quail in California.
