All-New Kia Seltos Sets New Safety Benchmark with 5-Star Bharat NCAP Rating

Kia India has announced that the all-new Kia Seltos has achieved a prestigious 5-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). This milestone establishes the Seltos as the highest-scoring internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle tested under the program to date.

Record-Breaking Safety Scores

The all-new Seltos delivered an industry-leading performance across various crash test scenarios, setting new reference points for occupant protection in its segment.

  • Combined Score: 76.70 points, the highest for any ICE vehicle in BNCAP history.
  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): A record 31.70 points.
  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 45.00 points, among the highest scores ever recorded in its category.

Engineering and Platform Strength

The high safety scores are attributed to the SUV’s new K3 platform. This foundation was specifically engineered to enhance structural integrity and crashworthiness.

  • Enhanced Structural Rigidity: The chassis utilizes reinforced hot-stamped components and high-strength steel to maintain the integrity of the passenger cabin during impacts.
  • Crash Energy Management: The platform is designed to effectively absorb and distribute impact forces. This minimises the energy transferred to the occupants.

Comprehensive Safety Ecosystem

The all-new Seltos integrates active, passive, and preventive technologies tailored for Indian driving conditions:

  • Standard Safety Pack: Includes 24 safety features such as 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) across all variants.
  • Level 2 ADAS Suite: Features 21 autonomous safety functions, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
  • Advanced Driver Assistance: Technologies like a 360° Surround Camera, Blind View Monitor, and Side Parking Sensors improve overall driver awareness and vehicle stability.

Kia’s Safety Momentum in India

The Seltos is the second Kia model, following the Kia Syros, to receive a 5-star BNCAP rating. This achievement reinforces the trust in a model that consistently. It remains a cornerstone of Kia’s success in the Indian market, maintaining sustained demand since its debut.
