Lexus ES500e Launched in India at ₹89.99 lakh; Entering the EV Space with a Comfort-First Luxury Sedan

Lexus ES500e is finally here, and it’s a big moment for Lexus India. This is the brand’s first fully electric car in India, priced at ₹89.9 lakh (ex-showroom), and it sticks closely to what the ES has always stood for.

Key Highlights

  • 74.68 kWh battery
  • 338 hp with all-wheel drive
  • 0-100 km/h: 5.5 seconds
  • Range: up to 580 km
  • 10-80% charge in 28 mins

Performance and Powertrain

The ES500e runs on a newly developed lithium-ion battery pack paired with dual eAxles for all-wheel drive.

  • Power: 338 hp
  • Range: Up to 580 km
  • Fast charging: 150 kW DC (10-80% in 28 mins)

The DIRECT4 system actively distributes torque between front and rear wheels, improving grip and stability across different driving conditions.

Design and Exterior

Lexus calls this design philosophy “Clean Tech x Elegance”.

  • Inspired by the LF-ZC concept
  • New spindle body design
  • Full-width rear light bar with illuminated logo
  • Strong aerodynamic silhouette

The car looks more like a next-gen EV than a traditional sedan; it’s low, wide and properly futuristic.

Interior and Tech

Inside, the ES500e focuses on space and minimalism.

  • 14-inch infotainment display
  • 12.3-inch digital driver display
  • Mark Levinson 3D sound system
  • Ambient lighting + illuminated door trims
  • New “Responsive Hidden Switches”

The cabin is designed like a lounge; its tech-heavy approach complements the vibe.

Comfort and Ride

Built on the TNGA GA-K platform, the ES500e continues the brand’s affinity towards comfort.

  • Improved body rigidity
  • Multi-link rear suspension (new for ES)
  • Enhanced noise insulation
  • Low centre of gravity for better handling

Lexus claims “pleasant time for all seats”; basically, the car is built to be driven and chauffeur-driven.

Safety Package

The sedan comes loaded with Lexus Safety System+.

  • Pre-Collision System
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • 3D Panoramic View Monitor

Ownership and Charging

Lexus is pushing convenience hard here:

  • 11 kW home charger + portable charger included
  • 5-year roadside assistance
  • 8-year / 200,000 km battery warranty
  • Connected app with remote climate & charging control

Intention

The ES500e is an instrument for the brand to test the waters in India’s premium electric space. A worthy opponent for the German giants who rule this segment in the country.

Overview

The ES500e feels like a safe but smart entry into India’s luxury EV market. It doesn’t scream performance, but nails what Lexus buyers actually want.
