Lotus Unifies Its Global Business Under One Corporate Structure

Lotus Technology has acquired 100 per cent of Lotus Advance Technologies, bringing the British sports car business, engineering operations and future technology programmes under a single corporate structure. In simple terms, the two sides of Lotus are now becoming one business.

One Brand, One Business

The acquisition brings together Lotus Technology, which oversees the brand’s electric vehicle operations, and the UK-based Lotus business responsible for models such as the Emira and its engineering activities.

The move is expected to simplify how the company operates and improve collaboration across key areas.

  • Engineering and manufacturing under one structure
  • Closer integration of product development
  • Streamlined governance and business operations
  • Greater coordination across Lotus’ global activities

A Simpler Ownership Structure

Lotus’ ownership structure has been relatively complex over the years. Since 2017, the UK business had been jointly owned by Geely and Etika Automotive through a 51:49 split.

With Lotus Technology acquiring full ownership, the business now sits under a more unified structure, supporting the company’s wider global strategy.

Focus 2030 Takes Shape

The merger is also an important part of Lotus’ Focus 2030 strategy. The plan outlines the brand’s next phase of growth while balancing its traditional sports car identity with new technology and electrification.

Key plans under the strategy include:

  • A new hybrid V8 supercar, codenamed Type 135
  • More than 986bhp expected from the new supercar
  • A planned debut in 2028
  • Continued production of the Emira
  • A more powerful and lightweight Emira variant

Final Take

The deal is more significant than the name suggests. By bringing its different businesses under one roof, Lotus is simplifying its structure as it prepares for an ambitious future. With a hybrid V8 supercar, a renewed commitment to the Emira, and Focus 2030 ahead, the new unified Lotus has plenty on its plate.
